About ACS Torpedo Bucharest
ACS Torpedo Bucharest is an amateur ice hockey team that brings together players of all ages and skill levels who share a passion for the game on ice and team spirit.
Our story
We came together around a shared passion: ice hockey. We come from different backgrounds — some have played for decades, others just got past their first laps on skates — but the same enthusiasm shows up every time we step on the ice. We train consistently, attend tournaments, and play friendly matches with similar teams from Romania and abroad, including international away trips.
Our philosophy
At Torpedo, we understand sport as a tool for living better — not an end in itself. We care less about the final scoreboard and more about the hour spent on the ice, the effort put in, and the laughter afterwards.
Ice hockey is a demanding sport: it requires coordination, courage, and perseverance. But that's exactly what makes it so satisfying when you achieve a smooth stride, a precise pass, or your first goal. We are there to help you get there.
The principles that guide us:
- Everyone is welcome — regardless of age, gender, nationality, or skill level.
- Sportsmanship before performance — respect for teammates and opponents matters more than any statistic.
- Perseverance — showing up consistently to training is the only "talent" we require.
- Love of sport — if you're not having fun, something is wrong. We want you to have fun.
Who we are for
Anyone who wants to play hockey in a friendly environment. We have teammates who learned hockey after age 30 and players with junior-league experience. We have players from Romania and other countries, men and women, white-collar workers and students. The only thing we have in common is the love of ice.
You don't need to be in peak shape. You don't need to skate perfectly from day one. You need the desire to put in effort, to respect your teammates, and to come back to the next training session.
What a training session looks like
A Torpedo training session lasts 90 minutes on ice. We start with a few warm-up laps and skating drills, continue with technical exercises — puck control, passing, shooting — and finish with a scrimmage: a free game, team versus team.
We are a self-organized team: there is no external coach imposed on us. More experienced players organize drills and help newcomers. The atmosphere is relaxed, but everyone gives their best.
Session participants are divided into two teams — White Team and Red Team — in the order in which they confirmed their attendance on the training page.
What equipment you need
Ice hockey requires full equipment, for safety reasons:
- Hockey skates — different from figure or speed skates
- Full-cage helmet — mandatory
- Shin guards and knee pads
- Shoulder and elbow pads
- Hockey gloves
- Chest protector
- Hockey pants
- Hockey stick
For the first visits we can help with second-hand equipment recommendations or even lend pieces from teammates. A complete second-hand set typically costs around 300–500 RON.
Where we play
Training sessions take place at two rinks in the Bucharest–Ilfov area:
- Berceni Arena — Wednesday, 21:10 (Bucharest, sector 4)
- Telekom Arena — Sunday, 22:10 (Otopeni, near Henri Coandă Airport)
For tournaments and friendly matches we travel to other cities in Romania or abroad.
How to join
The process is simple:
- Write to us on Facebook or via the contact form.
- Tell us a bit about yourself: where you're from, what experience you have (or don't have) with hockey and skating.
- We'll arrange a trial training together — no pressure, no immediate commitment.
- If you enjoyed it and we felt you fit in well, we'll give you the secret code and you're officially on the team.
There is no fixed recruitment period. We welcome new players year-round.
